Last entry to the Zoo is one hour before closing.

We are closed on weekdays between 20 January and 31 January.

Members, Patrons and Fellows don't need to pre-book their visit at the moment and can visit with their valid membership ID cards, during the opening hours stated below, at their leisure:

In 2025, we will be closed from Monday 20 to Friday 24 January, and again the following week from Monday 27 to Friday 31 January for annual maintenance. The Zoo will be open at the weekends between these dates.

  • Please note, our animal houses and Passage through Asia close 15 minutes before the Zoo closes.
  • Children under 16 will not be admitted without an adult.

  • Permission must be obtained for all filming and photography for commercial purposes
  • Children under 16 will not be admitted without an accompanying adult.
  • No dogs are allowed on the Whipsnade Zoo premises
  • Bicycles and motorbikes are not allowed on Zoo premises
  • BBQs not permitted
  • Rollerskates, rollerblades, skateboards are not allowed on zoo premises. Children's scooters are permitted under the supervision of an adult. No adult scooters are allowed onsite.
  • Heelys roller shoes must not be used as skates, but may be worn as shoes.
  • Please note, there is no provision for left luggage.
