How to get to Whipsnade Zoo
We're the UK's biggest zoo, set in 600 acres of beautiful parkland on the Chiltern Hills near Hertfordshire, north of London, the Zoo is home to more than 10,000 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild.
Please note that there will be road closures affecting Bison Hill between Monday 14 and Wednesday 16 October. Please plan your journey accordingly and allow extra time where needed.

Buses to Whipsnade Zoo
Centrebus local bus service 40 operates from Dunstable to Whipsnade Zoo. A Whipsnade Zoo Group Ticket is available offering up to 5 people travelling together unlimited travel on the day of purchase in the Luton & Dunstable Zone plus to and from Whipsnade Zoo on service 40.
New for 2024! The ZOO bus
From 2024 onwards, the ZOO bus service, operating on weekends and school holidays between Easter and the end of the Summer holidays, will run every 90 minutes from Luton Parkway, through Dunstable and to Whipsnade Zoo. Get your timetables and find out more on the ZOO bus page.

How to get to Whipsnade Zoo by train
You can hop in a taxi from Hemel Hempstead, Leighton Buzzard, or Luton Parkway train stations. We recommend that you book in advance with one of the local taxi providers to avoid disappointment.
Getting to the Zoo by car
Only 20 minutes from the M25 (junction 21), Whipsnade Zoo is signposted from the M1 (junction 9 and junction 12) and all major roads - just follow the elephant on the above map.
When visiting Whipsnade Zoo by car there are two options:
- You may park in our free external car park and walk around the Zoo
- You may drive into the Zoo for an extra charge and park in specified areas around the Zoo
